Vintage Rocker Drab to Pop of Color Fab Makeover!

Victorian Yellow Bench

The RUSH SEAT VINTAGE ROCKER has gone from seriously drab to seriously fab!  I brought home the rocker last spring but alas, I don’t have any indoor or covered spot to place it.  The weather really did a number on it and it was looking very sad.  I felt guilty.

I used sandpaper to sand back all of the chipping paint and glue to fix the broken pieces of the seat.  I then broke out Victorian Yellow Curb Appeal paint by DecoArt.  It’s a new product that is meant for the outdoors.  I thought the yellow would give it a fun, new vibe.  Here it is now! more here!

A Behr Wanderlust Teen Bedroom Reveal

Behr Wanderlust Teen Room

My daughter, Ella’s bedroom is all done in Behr Marquee Wanderlust!  It’s a deep, beautiful color and perfect for a teen’s room.  We paired it with deep purple and white.  Her dresser is The Blush Dresser featured in the post (HERE).  I found a great headboard on Craigslist for only $40 and it’s perfect.  Both the little mirrored shelf and the wood frame with clips for photos are from HomeGoods. The mirror was given to me by a client and is vintage. The green velvet chair in the corner was featured HERE and is a thrift store redo. The curtains were also a thrift store purchase (HERE) and the little black nightstand was given to me by a neighbor.  The large artwork is from Ikea and I couldn’t help myself and kept a little piece of the gold stenciled wall as “artwork” 🙂 more here!

Country Curtains Thrift Store Score

Country Curtains Thrift Store Score

I just finished painting half of Ella’s room in Behr’s Wanderlust and I LOVE the color!

I’m finishing up this week and can’t wait to share some pics of this gorgeous color!  In the meantime, I’ve been on the lookout for some pretty lace curtains for her room. I wanted white to contrast against the deep hue.  I was out looking the other day and I just have to share my thrift store score – ten panels of gorgeous lace panels from the store, Country Curtains!  I have always loved their catalog and have purchased curtains from them before.  This is how I know that they are quality and quite expensive curtains. Their lace panels cost between $40 to $90 per panel. When I found these at the thrift store (at $3.50 per panel) I snagged them all up!  I only needed four panels for Ella’s room but have added the extra panels to my hall and soon into my living room for a summer, easy breezy look. more here!

A Little Bit of This and That

Foyer Poised Taupe

It’s amazing how new little touches can brighten up a space and make you smile!  I’ve added a few new pieces into my home that are both new (HomeGoods) and from the thrift store.

The newer pieces are a bright blue painting in my foyer (painted in Poised Taupe link HERE), plus some new picture frames.  I am enjoying the darker color in the foyer as colors really pop and I wanted a more modern and bright picture for the wall above the Hungarian Chest.  The blue works perfectly and at only $39.00, not a bad deal!  The picture frames were $5.99 each and perfect for my family photos. more here!

My Vintage Coffee Table Will Do! Shopping My Own Home

My Vintage Coffee Table Will Do! Shopping My Own Home

I went to a few thrift stores today and also back to Home Goods to try and find a round, glass, coffee table for my living room.  After my rug purchase, I’m in the midst of changing it all around (surprise!) and want a new table for the room.  However, I had no luck today in either the thrift stores or Home Goods. more here!

Thrifty Home for the Holidays

Thifty Home Holiday Decor Living Room

Thrifty Home for the Holidays   I spent time last week breaking out the Christmas decorations and getting our house ready for Ella’s big birthday party.  Now that it’s over and I can take a breath, I took a few pics to share with you!  After the big Christmas tree debate, we decided to put my little new white tree in the living room and the original green, twirling tree in our family room.  Peace 🙂 more here!

My Home’s Color Scheme

My Home’s Color Scheme  I understand that my posts may be slightly tiring at this point as they are all on my own home but that is what I’ve been up to lately! Today I spent the day repainting my hallway and I had my kitchen ceiling patched and painted.  I feel that my taste has changed from my white and light cottage vibe that I have had for years to a more sophisticated and deeper color palette. more here!

Dining Room in Sherwin Williams Rainstorm

Dining Room in Sherwin Williams Rainstorm

My dining room is done in Sherwin Williams Rainstorm!  Oh my, it was quite a job.  I ended up painting underneath the chair rail in white.  I had (of course) first painted it in the deep blue and it took three coats to cover it again in white.  Talk about making more work for myself!  I also repainted the trim while I was at it.  The white is Benjamin Moore Cloud White, which is the trim color throughout my house.  I again had both paint colors matched at Home Depot in their Behr paint and primer. more here!
