Mid-Century Modern Chair – Trash to Treasure!

mid-century modern chair

I don’t know if you remember my great trash to treasure Mid-Century Modern chair?  I found it in the trash outside a thrift store!  I brought it home and gave it a good sanding and cleaning.  Here was the process:

I finally had time to work on the chair.  Walmart had foam inserts that were amazingly the perfect fit.  My mother-in-law has sewn a few covers for me and all I had to do was the finishing touches.  Almost done!

Mid-Century Modern Chest of Drawers Before and After

Mid-Century Modern Dresser

Mid-Century Modern Chest of Drawers  My grandmother’s vintage, mid-century modern Bassett chest of drawers has been in my son’s room for years, awaiting its makeover.

I previously had finished this great Mid-Century Modern Dresser a year ago for my son’s room.  I used General Finishes milk paint and you can read the full before and after HERE.  I was thrilled when I found the dresser at the thrift store because it was almost a perfect match to my grandmother’s chest of drawers (above) in his room.

I’m working on the mid-century modern dresser that I picked up a few months ago.  It’s going into my Matthew’s room as he needs a long dresser along his wall for his Xbox console, etc.  He already has a great MCM chest of drawers that was originally my grandmother’s so when I saw this piece, I snatched it up!  It is the perfect match save for the color of the stain.

Favorite Find Monday – MCM Love

My 14 year old daughter just informed me that MCM means “Man Crush Monday” and MCM Love may be misleading!  Suffice it to say that here it’s for Mid Century Modern (although a post on my Man Crush Monday would make a much more interesting read!)

It’s a freezing cold President’s Day and the kids are home, which is really nice.  We’ll venture out later to Barnes & Noble and take a break from the house.  I love sitting in that store with my Starbucks coffee while browsing through all of the interior design books!
