FFM: Fantastic Old Chest of Drawers!

Look what I found the other day!  I was so happy to find it because I haven’t seen a truly old chest of drawers with the great vintage detail for a long time.  This one has the wheels on the feet and the drawers all work.  However, it is in really bad condition but hey, nothing that can’t be fixed!  It was only $12 and I grabbed it! FFM: Vintage Child’s Roll Top Desk

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter or Passover!  We had a great day with a dinner of baked ham, potatoes, asparagus, cornbread casserole and apple crumble for dessert – yum!  Today is the last day of spring break.  Ella passed her lifeguard training and my son finished his driver’s ed so it was quite a productive week!

I have a very sweet favorite find Monday to share today.  Jane is a neighbor and friend and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to give her little vintage desk a makeover.  It’s a child’s roll top desk and has been in their family for years.  We are in the midst of choosing a calming, neutral color for it and I know that the result will be fabulous.  These little desks always are totally transformed with paint!child's rolltop desk

This is the second piece that I have done for Jane.  Last year, I finished her Empire Buffet, which was quite a wonderful transformation (POST: Empire Chest Before and After).Rembrandt Red BuffetRembrandt Red Buffet

I also shared pics of Jane’s newly renovated home (POST: Gorgeous Dining Room Reveal)!  Rembrandt Red BuffetDining Room with Planked Wall Rembrandt Red BuffetI’m looking forward to bringing new life to this little desk!

FFM: Total Destruction!

I know – what a strange title I have to this post!  However, it is very apt description.

I went to the thrift store last week and found a pair of fantastic lamps.  They have the most interesting, wooden shades and pretty tassels.  thrift store lampsthrift store lamps

I grabbed them, brought them home and put them down in my living room.  I was planning on cleaning them up and plugging them in later on in the day.

This is where the destruction comes in.

Remember this little guy, Harper?

He is our rescue pup.  He’s a mix Jack Russell Terrier/Beagle and both highly energetic and mischievous.  At some point last Friday, he was not being watched and took full advantage of the situation.  I was walking through the dining room and glanced at the living room and there it was – total destruction!  I have owned many dogs and never, ever, has one done this to a room!

He had dug up my Spring Easter Bulb Basket (from last week’s Hometalk LIVE DIY) and deposited the dirt everywhere.  All over the sofa, the rug, etc.Harper destruction

He also had time to chew each of my new lamp’s electrical cords to shreds.  I had left them sitting on the side and wow, he really went to town.  He started on the plugs and worked his way up on each cord.   lamps

What a mess!  He was put in his “house” (crate) and Ella helped me clean up.  We had to take off the sofa slipcover to be washed later this week.  My husband went to Home Depot and purchased two new electrical kits for lamps.  He promised me that he can replace the cords and I’m going to hold him to it as we all agree that this happened on his watch!

Oh, the joys of pet ownership!  Good thing he is so cute 😉  Oh, and he is fine btw.  I believe he must be part goat because he can chew and devour anything in his sight (earbuds, remotes, cordless phones, tissue boxes, shoes, hats, wallets) and now electrical cords and he doesn’t even get a stomach ache…we should have named him Billy.

FFM: Gorgeous Vintage Sideboard

I had the good luck of stumbling upon this fantastic sideboard the other day.  It is gorgeous!  The rounded shape on the top, the way the bottom drawer is slightly recessed and the fluted legs.  All gorgeous!  Of course, the piece needs a lot of work.  In particular, the top is in really bad shape.  Here are a few pics.Vintage SideboardVintage Sideboard Vintage Sideboard Vintage SideboardVintage Sideboard

The sideboard was part of a set.  There was a china cabinet and small buffet but both were too far gone to save!  The cabinet had a huge piece missing from the top and the buffet was missing a drawer.  Such a shame!thrift store finds

I’ve done a few sideboards in the past.  The Midnight Sideboard (POST HERE)

FFM: Bits and Pieces

It’s good to be back!  I have some bits and pieces to share on today’s Favorite Find Monday.  I found them all randomly last month and just now am having the chance to post.

First up is this console table.  It was on top of a bunch of old junk in a thrift store.  Solid wood and all the pieces are there.  I believe it was around $15 so I good deal!  It will be a fun project to work on and see it literally come together! console table favorite find monday console table favorite find monday console table favorite find monday

The second is this little vintage table base.  Typically, these tables have a marble top but sadly that is missing. I couldn’t leave it behind as I thought that one day I will be able to get a new top made.  In the meantime, it joins the other pieces in the garage!vintage table base

And last up is this sweet little bench.  My daughter, Ella just got a new bed and we are changing up her room a bit. I can’t believe it but we plan on – gasp – painting over the stenciled walls (post HERE)!  I think this bench will go in it.  She isn’t so keen but once painted and with new fabric, it may pass a 16 year old’s decor test!Ella's Bench

I’m working on the Bow Front dresser this week – stay tuned for the progress!

FFM: Crackle Finish Dresser

I found this really pretty dresser last week.  It has an odd original finish that is basically a yellow crackle finish.  I’m going to use the existing texture and see what happens.  The piece has great detail and is in excellent shape.  The drawers are keyhole and incredibly it actually has the key taped inside the top drawer.  I know this one will be a stunner!

FFM: Farmhouse Dresser

Today’s Favorite Find Monday is a bare bones, straight lined farmhouse dresser. It’s width is very deep, which makes for great storage. The piece is solid wood – each drawer weighs a ton!  The top two drawers have a keyhole and all of the drawers open and close easily.  Holes were drilled into the top where its mirror once stood but other than that, it just has the typical wear and tear.

Such a great find!

FFM: Vintage Bar Cart

I was out thrifting last week and picked up this little gem. It’s a vintage bar cart and works perfectly.  The sides lift up easily and lock into place.  The wheels work smoothly.  I know it looks pretty bad now but I plan on giving it a makeover.  I’ll share soon!Vintage Bar Cart Vintage Bar CartVintage Bar Cart Vintage Bar Cart

We had Ella’s Sweet 16 Party on Saturday and it was a huge success! We had a ton of family and friends and she had a wonderful evening.  I’m spending the day today getting my house organized and clean 🙂  Have a great Monday!
