Creamy White Vintage Tables Before and After

Creamy White Tables in Annie Sloan Old White

I have been really busy working on Yvonne’s tables.  They are both pretty old and were already cracking in places. Perfect candidates for chalk paint!  I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and applied a light coat of General Finishes Antique White as the top coat.  I like to combo these two – the chalk paint makes it easy to distress and the milk paint gives it a strong and harder finish.  Both tables were sanded and distressed to show off their detail and then waxed in Annie Sloan clear wax.  Yvonne has gorgeous gold, silk drapes in her living room and I also added a few highlights in Cere a Dorer gold gilding wax for a few bits of gold elegance. more here!

A Beach Bedroom: Create the Look with Paint Tutorial

Beach House Whitewashed Dresser

We made it to my sister’s beach cottage in Amagansett yesterday!  The bedroom is so beachy and so lovely that I wanted to share it with you.  The furniture is from a shop called Rumrunners in Wainscott, NY (I did not touch it – it came like it) and the bedding is HomeGoods.  The wall color is Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue.  The room ties in so nicely with the beach colors. more here!

FFM – What a Find!!!

Vintage Table, thrift store find

I haven’t been out and about hunting lately because I’ve been super busy with custom work.  So it was a treat to have the morning off last week and go thrifting with my mother.  We had so much fun and I found a few amazing treasures that really made my day!

This little table was one of my scores – it was $9.99 – what a find!!!  It’s sturdy and full of detail, in particular a scalloped top and lovely feet.  And it will look spectacular when painted.  A true vintage gem!CONTINUE READING more here!

Duncan Phyfe Dining Table in Progress

I have been so busy all week working on the Duncan Phyfe Dining Table.  I took a few pics to share (I apologize if the quality isn’t tops but I took them with my phone).  The table base is done!  I used Annie Sloan Old Ochre as a base coat and then applied a wash of Old White.  It was distressed and waxed and now its fabulous detail really pops.  The feet were lightly brushed with paint and then distressed. I happen to love how the metal is peeking through.  I hope you can see the variant of color in the pictures. more here!

Hidden Mirrors – Favorite Find Monday

Wow!  The weather forecasters were totally right!  We had over 2 feet of snow and schools are closed through Tuesday.  Another day of sledding, hot chocolate, books and movies awaits!

On to Favorite Find Monday – Hidden Mirrors!

Today’s Favorite Find Monday is completely the result of the snow.  I was going a little stir crazy and my neighbor invited me to come over and use her treadmill.  I jumped at the chance and trudged through the snow to her house.  She took me to her basement and hidden among the gym equipment were two gorgeous mirrors.  They were her grandmothers and she told me that I can have the wooden one – so sweet of her!  I’m going to paint it and put it in Ella’s room.  Isn’t the gold mirror divine?  I had to take a pic to share with you all.  I love basements – they are always full of surprises! Here are a few pics of mirrors that I’ve done in the past.  They are simple projects that really do give a lot of bang for the buck!  I don’t tape mirrors when I paint.  I take paper and tuck it inside the crevice between the glass and frame.  Any paint I get on the glass I can easily remove with a razor blade or even Windex. more here!

French Linen and Gold Sideboard Transformation – Before and After

Today’s before and after is this fantastic vintage sideboard that was last week’s favorite find.  It is full of detail that was just hiding in that dark finish!

My client recently downsized to a condo that is filled with great light.  She is in the process of redoing her interior to reflect her new space.  This means lighter and brighter! more here!

My Home and Our Family Room Christmas Decor!

I am finished with my family room Christmas decor!  I scored a few vintage sleds last year at a thrift store and added them to the hearth. On the mantle, I added our little nutcrackers and other decorations. It is a tad busy, not very “designery” (I know that is not a word) but it fits my family and hey, it’s our family room! It’s comfy and cheery. more here!
