A Greige Headache

My Greige Cabinet is giving me a headache.  It doesn’t help that it is 98 degrees outside and I am driving to swim meets, laser tag, baseball games, the mall and the movies (I complain but I actually really love summer and Jurassic World was pretty good :))

Back to the cabinet…I decided to remove the old hardware to make room for new.  However, as is the case every time you remove old hardware, it was the very last screw that decided it would not budge.  Nope, it had been there for at least 60 years and was not moving.  The old hardware was stuck on one end of the door and the screw head on the other and it would not screw off.  After an hour, I was covered in sweat and muttering, “bastard screw” under my breath. more here!

A Fun Chalky Paint Powder Tutorial

A year ago, I took a bench that I found in my neighbor’s trash and gave it a dry coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Ochre.  It looked great but I never took the time to seal it and it since had weathered.  I have a client who saw the bench and decided it was a great fit for her home.  She wanted it done in Sherwin Williams Jacaronda Blue.  This was the perfect project for the Chalky Paint Powder that the Vintage Storehouse Restoration Co. had sent me.  I already used it once and was happy to use it again. more here!

The Vintage Storehouse Restoration Co. and Before and After

Did you notice my new sponsor button?  The Vintage Storehouse Restoration Co. is a Specialty Paint Company that specializes in products to help restore and refinish old worn out furniture – my cup of tea!  It started with their Chalky Paint Powder and now includes furniture wax and Antiquing Powders.  Kelsey was kind enough to send me a box full of goodies to experiment with.  I received their chalk paint powder, two antiquing powders, Fiddes & Sons furniture polish (now my favorite wax) and a few soft cloths to apply the wax.  I was intrigued! more here!
