French Provincial Bed Before and After

french provincial bed

I’ve been working on a bedroom set for a customer and shared the Pure White dresser makeover earlier in the week (LINK HERE).  Part of the set is a very pretty French Provincial headboard.  As in the dresser, my customer wanted it finished in Annie Sloan Pure White for a fresh look.  Honestly, the transformation is quite spectacular! more here!

Pure White and Fresh – Dresser Before and After

Annie Sloan Pure White Farmhouse Dresser

My customer wanted a brighter white (without as much yellow as Annie Sloan Old White) for a very sweet vintage dresser makeover.  I wrote a post last week on how to take the yellow out of Old White (HERE) but for this piece, I went with the clean and fresh Annie Sloan Pure White.

I didn’t take a proper “before” but you can see the dresser in the background here: more here!

Apricot Moroccan Table Before and After

Apricot Moroccan Table

The Apricot Moroccan Table is done!  I’m calling it this as trusted readers remarked how it looked Moroccan or Spanish and I must agree.  The cutouts definitely give it that vibe.

Last week I posted the Sunglow paint color disaster HERE.  Instead of taking it in a totally different direction, I thought that a bright color was actually perfect for this table.  I ended up using General Finishes Sunglow as the base color and adding General Finishes Apricot on top.  It’s the first time I’ve used this color and I really like it.  It is truly Apricot and very pretty.  Nice and colorful but also soft and pretty – the perfect fit for the Moroccan Table! more here!

Simply White Farmhouse Dresser, Before and After

Farmhouse Dresser

The Simply White Farmhouse Dresser is done!  This piece was found at a thrift store.  It was in good shape but had the typical dings and nicks and really needed a makeover.  After applying and sanding wood filler in places (such as the large holes on the top), I applied three coats of Annie Sloan Old White paint.  It took three coats to cover really well. It was then sanded all over in 150 grit sandpaper to create a super smooth finish.  It was distressed in places and I then applied Annie Sloan clear wax to seal.  I also added fun green ceramic drawer pulls. more here!

Vintage White Coffee Table Before and After

Vintage White Coffee Table Before and After

I mentioned yesterday how after purchasing a new rug, I was looking to find a suitable new coffee table for our living room.  After searching high and low, I realized that I actually already owned the perfect table – my thrift store coffee table that I had purchased years ago.  Originally, I had painted it in Annie Sloan Provence.  A fresh coat of General Finishes Antique White has given it a new look! more here!

Number 2: Velvet Blue Dresser

I just posted about the Velvet Blue Dresser the other day, and in my post I mentioned how it was one of my all time faves.  It really is!  The blue in real life is just stunning and quite honestly hard to capture on camera.  The finish is just like velvet in both the change of hue in the light and in its softness.  I love it when a piece comes together and this one did! more here!

Number 4: Antique White and Gold Dining Room Chairs

I met a client who had just downsized to a lovely, modern condo.  She wanted to change her furniture to fit into her new space.  We began with her dining room chairs.  They were gorgeous but very dark and a little dated for her new home.  She wanted to lighten them up but maintain their elegance.  We decided on antique white with gold accents.  It was the perfect solution!
If you would like to see a few video tutorials on the dining room chair’s transformation (how to add the wash and how to apply the topcoat), they are all on my YouTube channel (CLICK HERE). Here is the video on how I added Cire a Dorer Gold Gilding wax: more here!

My neighbor gave me this armoire.  It was upstairs in her house and the agreement was we move it and we get to keep it!  I had two teenage boys help with this because the armoire is SO heavy.  We got it home and it sat in my garage for about 6 months before I had time to work on it.  I decided to just have fun and made a video of the process, “How to Blend and Mix Annie Sloan Chalk Paint” (see below). more here!
