French End Table Before and After

French Table in Annie Sloan Old Ochre

I mentioned last week how I was working on the French End Tables.  However, I was only able to share how beautifully the top had turned out in Minwax Early American stain.Honestly, I had used the little table as a test piece to try out a few paint colors/finishes for a dresser that I am working on.  This is why I wasn’t able to share the full “before and after” with you last week as it was kind of a hot mess of a paint job! more here!

Louis Blue Vintage Dresser Before and After

Annie Sloan Louis Blue Dresser

I’ve had fun the past few days working on this great crackle finished dresser that I picked up a few weeks ago.  I shared it on my Favorite Find Monday and here is its before pic:

The dresser was full of detail and I knew it would look amazing once it was painted.  I went with a classic color combination – Annie Sloan Louis Blue with gold highlights.  The gorgeous hardware is original and the dresser even has a working key for those keyhole drawers.  Beautiful! more here!

Simply White Farmhouse Dresser, Before and After

Farmhouse Dresser

The Simply White Farmhouse Dresser is done!  This piece was found at a thrift store.  It was in good shape but had the typical dings and nicks and really needed a makeover.  After applying and sanding wood filler in places (such as the large holes on the top), I applied three coats of Annie Sloan Old White paint.  It took three coats to cover really well. It was then sanded all over in 150 grit sandpaper to create a super smooth finish.  It was distressed in places and I then applied Annie Sloan clear wax to seal.  I also added fun green ceramic drawer pulls. more here!

Farmhouse Dresser Update and Annie Sloan Old White

before dresser

I decided to keep the farmhouse dresser simple. By simple, I mean classic white.  My favorite creamy white is Annie Sloan Old White.  Here is the dresser as of today!

Below is a post that I originally wrote back in April of 2015. You can see some pretty Annie Sloan Old White transformations.  I hope to have the farmhouse dresser ready to share tomorrow! more here!

Blue Velvet Dresser – Before and After

Blue Velvet vintage dresser in DecoArt Preservation Chalky Finish Paint Preservation

Blue Velvet perfectly describes this lovely, vintage dresser.  The finish is soft and the muted play of color from dark to light that resembles velvet.  I will add here that this now happens to be one of my all time favorite pieces!

The before (below) was a plain and rather used and abused dresser that I found shoved behind other pieces at a thrift store.  It called my name and into the back of the mivivan (aka Bessie) it went. more here!

Versailles Tables Before and After

Annie Sloan Versailles Tables

Do you remember my Favorite Find Monday from last week?  I have been hard at work completing the bedroom set for a customer.  Today, I’m sharing the pair of bedside tables.  The original tables were very “orangey” and my customer wanted to tone them down in a pastel hue.

I used Annie Sloan Versailles to calm them down into sweet, cottage tables.  I added a punch of orange back into the tables with the ceramic drawer pulls and I love the look – especially for autumn! more here!

Creamy White Vintage Tables Before and After

Creamy White Tables in Annie Sloan Old White

I have been really busy working on Yvonne’s tables.  They are both pretty old and were already cracking in places. Perfect candidates for chalk paint!  I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and applied a light coat of General Finishes Antique White as the top coat.  I like to combo these two – the chalk paint makes it easy to distress and the milk paint gives it a strong and harder finish.  Both tables were sanded and distressed to show off their detail and then waxed in Annie Sloan clear wax.  Yvonne has gorgeous gold, silk drapes in her living room and I also added a few highlights in Cere a Dorer gold gilding wax for a few bits of gold elegance. more here!
